Israel Attacks Sumud Flotilla Heading for Gaza – Civilian Casualties Expected

The Gaza-bound flotilla carrying aid and pro-Palestinian activists reported explosions and multiple drones targeting some of the boats near Greece.
“Multiple drones; communications jamming and explosions affected from several boats,” the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) said in a statement.
“We are witnessing these psychological operations first-hand, right now, but we will not be intimidated.”
Yasemin Acar is a German human rights activist. She said in a video she posted on Instagram that five vessels were attacked.
In an earlier video, Acar said the activists had “sighted 15 to 16 drones”. He added that their radios had been jammed, and loud music was heard.
One clip posted by the flotilla’s official Instagram page showed an explosion it said came from the Spectre boat.
In another video posted by the same page, a statement was made by the Brazilian activist Thiago Avila. He said four boats had been “targeted by drones.”

Earlier this month, the GSF said that it was attacked by drones over two days while stationed in Tunisia.
None of the passengers or crew were harmed during those events.
The flotilla carrying activists set sail from Barcelona in late August. This group included the Swedish climate campaigner Greta Thunberg. The mission was to “break the illegal siege of Gaza”, organisers said.
Nearly 51 Flotilla vessels are off the Greek island of Crete.
Israel said Monday it would not allow the flotilla to reach Gaza.
